Winecation: The Alpha Male’s Guide to Napa – Where to Stay

First and foremost, where to stay?  There are literally hundreds of locations to choose from, bed and breakfasts with gingham curtains to sleek resorts with the latest gadgetry and everything in between.  When I did my research for my trip with my husband, I considered his likes and dislikes.  His dislikes? Granny-inspired decor, bright, busy colors, crowded spaces and anything screaming of pretentiousness.

Aesthetically, he prefers things simplistic, clean and in muted, conservative tones.  He also loves the outdoors,  rustic interiors, anything made of wood and lots and lots of open space.  I guess you could say he’s a Restoration Hardware kind of guy. I tried my best to find a location that fit these needs plus my own requirements of elegant interiors and luxury accommodations. On our last stay, we spent four nights at the Cottages of Napa Valley which made my husband feel like we were camping (okay, glamping) in our beautifully decorated cottage for two, with hand delivered baskets of Bouchon goodies every morning.

But, I also found a few other places that would be perfect for any Alpha male to enjoy simple living (wine country-style).

For the best deals, follow the property of your choice on Twitter or Facebook, or subscribe to their email.  And if you’re active-duty in the Armed Forces, always ask for a military discount.  Often times, even when a property doesn’t specifically have one, they’ll find a way to thank you for your service.
